On the Road is an ongoing digital photographic project that began with Seo Ju Park during a series of motorcycle journeys across Mexico, the United States, and Canada, reaching Alaska. The archive brings together images from those shared journeys and from the trips I later undertook alone, most of them across the United States.

The photographs move between people, towns, landscapes, food, roadside encounters, camping routines, the objects carried on the motorcycle, and the unexpected situations that unfold along the way. Rather than presenting travel as a collection of destinations, the project approaches the road as a space for social and anthropological observation—a way of examining how people work, consume, move, build community, and inhabit different territories.

Some of the images were made from the moving motorcycle. During the first expeditions, I asked Seo Ju to photograph while we rode; when I began traveling alone, I developed a way of photographing while riding myself, sometimes at speeds of up to 120 km/h. These images introduce speed, instability, and incomplete control into a much broader record of life on the road.
